Simon Monjack Dead May 24,2010. Brittany Murphy Husband’s Simon Monjack, 39, dead. The body of British-born screenwriter was discovered at the property in the Hollywood Hills. LA’s fire department had responded to an emergency call for an “unspecified medical aid request” at the house on Sunday, according to force spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Police said the preliminary cause of death was “natural causes”. Brittany Murphy, 32, passed away in her husband’s arms on December 20, 2009, after collapsing in the shower. She died of pneumonia complicated by an iron deficiency, anaemia and multiple drug intoxication. Coroner’s officials said Murphy had gone into sudden cardiac arrest because of “drug intake”. Her death was classified as an accident.
Brittany Murphy starred in numerous movies, including: Clueless; Girl Interrupted; 8 Mile; Just Married; Little Black Book; Sin City; The Dead Girl; and Across the Hall. She also voiced Gloria the penguin in the 2006 animated film Happy Feet.
After her death, the widower blamed Hollywood, saying film bosses had “blood on their hands”. He said Murphy was devastated just days before she died when an offer to reprise her role in the Happy Feet sequel was withdrawn.
