This actually does work.. But don’t always depend on it; its always better to buy a flashdrive and keep saving anything you need in the future..

Use the program acronis migrate and follow the steps this will migrate all your data including the operating system.

Oh seriously. Why take the chance that everything won’t work properly. Reformat the drive, start fresh with everything, then do it right and use backup programs and other utilities. You sound smart enough.

I agree. I just let the old drive hang out of the box by the IDE cable. When just pulling data from it. The guy in this video is all like,”Blah blah blah, this thingy here is something that you move here and screws go here”. They don’t care, they have over 100,000 half assed videos on all sorts of shit. They”ll never respond to comments and they are living off of Google.

How do I migrate an entire Windows installation including the boot sector to another hard drive? I have an 80GB internal primary bootable partition with Windows 7 on it, but it it full. Only 5GB left. How can I migrate it to a 500 GB internal HD that I want to make my primary HD, and format and discard my old 80GB internal bootable HD? I know I will need to adjust jumpers to make one HD a slave to do this.

Well, this back up method will not work all the time. It depent on the New computer’s motherboard and the OS for both system.

The best way to back up data is get a all in one IDE/SATA to USB connector. Under $20 from eBay or Fry’s. Just get your old drive out and connect to the USB, plug into your computer then you are ready to back up. 100% working all the time, unless your HDD death.
